I think you're right, Syliva. Keep us updated as to what you hear. You might be the closest person on this board to the Gulf.

Our Southern Friends- Are you Pissed about the Oil Spill? I Know I Am ...... !
by flipper in......... and i live out here in northern california !
i mean , they go to all that humungous labor, build a huge box to put over the oil gushing out and wham 5,000 ft. deep it gets clogged with ice crystals.
now they are talking about a couple other alternatives in the news- all the while today haliburton, bp, and other reps are meeting with federal officials getting into a pissing match and fight over who is responsible for the spill ?

Bitterness
by LostGeneration inhow do you overcome this?
i just got done reading isocf and toward the end ray warns against bitterness.
i guess i just can't agree with that.

Yeah, drowning your bitterness in a bottle is what you absolutely DON'T want to do. You will become paralyzed and never move past the negative feelings. What you're feeling is normal. That's what this board is for: to come here and express those emotions because most of us understand what you're feeling. Venting those feelings helps to see things from a different perspective and see the positive aspects of today and the future. Vent away.

Remain Close to the Governing Body DC
by gutted ini just finished all 3 days of the dc and, for what it's worth, wanted to get down some of the highlights i enjoyed.
i went with family and i only did it for them, and hope to never attend another assembly ever again.. .
the whole thing was pretty boring and uncomfortable due to the stadium style seating which doesn't favour my long legs and ac being blasted too high.. .

Twickenham Assembly 1963 newsreel
by dozy ina bit before my time , but hopefully of interest to some.
the food service brings back memories of the 70's & 80's before it was "simplified" by the wtbts.. it would seem that the 60's & early 70's were very much a golden era for the society , before the 1975 debacle.
it is always amazing watching baptisms of adults - i honestly can't remember the last time a reasonably compus mentis adult was baptised at an asembly.. http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=chrp_&m=jz1jo9yc4yjrty&b=tdwz1ywjej1njt4nmqic2a.

My parents were at Yankee Stadium in 1958. It's sad to look at those pictures. It was the golden age for my parents. They were young and beautiful. They had been married almost 5 years and they had an 18 month old baby. They were excited to be in the "truth", enthusiastic about sharing thier faith. Very sad to look at. Everything came tumbling down for them over the next 20 years.

I agree, Mickey Mouse, there is something rather sad about it.
